For dinner we went to our friends house and had dinner with two other wonderful families. Oh so much fun in one short day!

We got an awesome package from my sweet cousin and opened it this morning to find a bunch of water guns, beach balls, bubble wands, water balloons, sidewalk chalk and picnic supplies. Awesome!!! Within minutes everything was opened and being used! WATERFIGHT! What a great way to start the day!

Hershey Park

This is the third year I was able to go with my oldest on his choir trip to Hershey Park. Each year he has gone on more difficult rollercoaster rides. This year his Middle School earned first place in every category they competed in. He represented the Choir to go out and pick up the trophy. We had a great group of seven boys who I managed to peer pressure into the really fun rides.

Raiders of the Lost Ark

 

For Family Home Evening tonight (after a spirtual thought/Home Teaching/conference address with Cinnamon Crimson) we watched Raiders of the Lost Ark. The boys loved our movie night. Afterwards, I pulled out Richard Halliburton's book from the 1930's called "The Book of Marvels" which is about World exploring and seeing exotic sites. The book has similar maps to the movie and talks about archealogical sites all over the World with pictures from the 1930's. They liked the picture of the Mayan Temples which the oldest three have seen in person. When I came to the part about the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, I talked to the boys about our honeymoon trip to see the site. We tied it back to Indiana Jones trying to find the Ark of the Covenant and talked about where it might be today. It was a fun night. Most importantly, Mr. Music was able to see the boulder scene (which was the only part of the movie he wanted to see.) 

Simulated Congressional Hearing

Today at his school Perfect got to participate in a Simulated Congressional Hearing and he did AWESOME! He and I have been going over his script all week and I knew he'd do well on his presentation but I was really impressed with the question and answer period. There were three guest judges. These are people in the community such as school board members and such, and they ask questions and the kids did super well at presenting their answers. I was particularly proud when a question was asked about whether the constitution would have been different if there had been women there to draft it. The other kids commented on how at the time women weren't educated like men were, but Perfect said Women have brains just like men, the only difference would have been that women would have been able to vote sooner. Whahoo! One of the judges at the feedback part of it totally praised him for that. Yeah, I was a pretty proud Mama. Not only that but at the end the main judge asked the kids if they'd like to point out the adults who helped them, Perfect chimed in immediately with, "I'd like to point out my Mom who worked with me every day on this." Even though they wanted the teachers to be pointed out I was overjoyed. Best Mothers Day Gift!!!

SCONES

This morning we made scones for breakfast. I don't think I've made them before but today's reaction tells me we will be making them a lot more. They didn't care about putting the honey butter on them. They just ate them straight, and LOVED them.
Right was my biggest helper kneading and forming more than half of them. Perfect got into the fun a bit too, but really was more interested in eating them. What a fun way to start the day!
