I Work at Burger King

I hear this song all of the time. But this morning it made me laugh so hard.
Background.
Dad's truck is in the shop and so we all got up and left the house rather early this morning to take him into work. I wasn't sure what the traffic would be like so I made us leave extra early and Dad didn't get any breakfast. (I wasn't too worried about the boys and I, we had time to eat after we got home.) But I did want to have Dad eat something. I knew there was a Burger King close and so I went to the drive through. The whole time we were there my boys were singing this song at the top of their lungs. Oh my goodness I was crying for laughing so hard.
Great way to start the day!

Family Home Evening

So, Monday night. What a great FHE we had tonight. We went out for ice-cream right after dinner and then came home to clean the car. We had a ton of fun and took an hour to do it. We ended up all sopping wet and more than happy.
YEA Family Home Evening!

Fun with EZ

I went to school today with EZ. He didn't want me to be there. He kept telling me that Mom needs to go home. But he warmed up to the fact that sometimes worlds collide and even let me have lunch with him. But this was how he looked for a long time.
By the time I left we had enjoyed some time together, but he was VERY happy to have me leave. What a funny kid.
I love my EZ!

Happy Father's Day

Last night when Dad got home Puppy ran to him and said, "Daddy we have a surprise for you!" Meanwhile I am over on the side shushing him. Dad is great and just dropped it. But he knew something was up. After the boys went to bed Dad asked me, "Does it end in chocolate?" Well, his boys sure know him well. Last week we discussed what we wanted to do for Dad for Father's Day. This is what they came up with. We did all of the prep work for it and after Dad went to bed I set it all up (and then whispered to him that he couldn't get up before we got him up.)
So, this morning I got up and made poached eggs on english muffins with fruit and cheese. I should have gotten a pic. We made it super pretty. As soon as it was ready all of the boys and I went into Dad's room and sang "Happy Father's Day" And then after a round of hugs and kisses the boys handed him the first clue. It took him to breakfast which had another clue and a lovely bar of chocolate. The next clue led to a stache of hand made cards and of course another clue with a lovely bar of chocolate.
The next clue led to a whole mess of chocolate. And again a clue.
The last clue led to a room full of mylar balloons. One from each of the boys and me. (As they were planning this I am sure they knew that they would be the ones to end up with the balloons.) They are too funny.
And after Dad found all of his chocolates the boys did ask if he would share. Hmmmmm. Dad did so very willingly.
What a great Dad!
I got him clothes.BORING! (Or so I am told by my boys. My hubby was pretty happy about getting such a boring gift though.)
I got my own Daddy a book. When I was a child my favorite story was Cinderella and my Dad read to me every version we could find. As an adult we still share this love and so I am always on the lookout for another great Cinderella story. I happened on one very recently and sent it to him for Father's Day. I love that he loves Cinderella as much as I do. (Sometimes even more, I don't know a woman alive who has seen 'Ever After' more than my Daddy.) I love you Daddy!
Happy Father's Day to all of you great Father's out there!

Ready for middle school

Spike is SO ready for middle school. But the question is...Is middle school ready for Spike?
Yesterday was 5th grade promotion. It was so fun to watch my man Spike. The surprising thing is the fact that he didn't laugh, he didn't say anything inappropriate, he didn't cheer for himself when he wasn't supposed to. He just stood there and sang the songs, stood when his name was read for different awards and smiled at me occasionally. Wow. Is Spike growing up?

This is Patch. He is one of Spikes many friends, but he has a special place in my heart because of the way he treats him. He seems to understand him more than most of the kids. Even though they ALL love him. In fact there was a slide show after the official ceremony and each of the kids were pictured. We laughed as we noted the the girls would scream for the girls and the boys would whoop for the boys, but when Spikes picture was featured the whoops and the screams went up together. His was definitely the loudest. I am so glad he is so loved. Heck, to know him is to love him!

Star makes me happy

It's true it's true. Star makes me happy. This kid is swiftly turning into a teenager. It is something I have feared for years. But the wonderful part of it is the way he is doing it.
Example:
The other day as he left the house I told him to comb his hair. I don't like the way he has been combing his hair lately and have been very vocal about my opinion. Still he combed it the way he wanted it. So, while he was giving me a hug goodbye (yes, he still does that, oh what a great kid) as I had him in my grasp, I pushed his hair the way that I liked it. He then headed out the door only to go straight to the front window and push his hair back to the way he had it combed in the first place. All with this mischievous look on his face.
Another Example:
The other day was a court of honor and he received his Tenderfoot (YEA STAR) Since Dad was supposed to go up with him (Mom stayed home with the little boys) he went over to where Dad was seated and grabbed him by his shirt collar and dragged him up that way. Just having fun with it.
I love my Star and the fact that he is starting to show a little bit of attitude, but still with his fun personality.

The twins have a party!

So, it's been almost a week. But we had a great birthday party for the twins. EZ and Puppy. Here are some fun pics.
Sage decided to have some cake before the party. I told the boys they could have whatever kind of party they wanted. Puppy informed me (and EZ) that they wanted to have all their friends over from church and have a party in the back yard. Whahoo. That's the best kind of party there is. So, we set up a bunch of water toys and let the kids have at it. They had a ball.Blue Tiger reloading his watergun.Puppy was never without at least a few water toys.We told one of the siblings of one of the kids to come so Star could have someone his own age there. They had a great time. EZ loves being outside and in the water.Spike only lasted through half the party, then he came out all dressed and just watched. I was glad to see I got a pic of him in the water.Look at that face. Sage couldn't get enough! The next day was their actual birthday. Puppy was insistent that he get a car. So, that is what they got. On their b-day morning there was a car waiting for them in the living room. (Thanks to Dad staying up late putting it together.)They couldn't wait to go cruisin'.And here they are...driving off into the sunset....um....yeah.
