The Moon

EZ has been studying the moon in science class. We have been keeping a record of what the moon looks like (at least on the days/nights that we can see it). I always have to look up in his notes or ask the older boys which way is waxing and which is waning. I told them yesterday that I just needed a song or something that would help me to remember. So Star and Blue Tiger came up with one for me.
(It's to the tune of Jingle Bells.)
Waxing's on the right, waning's on the left,
These are phases of the moon you'd better not forget.
Oh moon phases, moon phases,
they are really great.
Oh what fun it is to learn how the sun affects us....
(or something like that.)
The funny part is...it really did help. I can remember now that waxing is on the right and waning is on the left. Too funny.

A little panicked

And thus it begins.

This morning I have the kitchen cleared out and have moved a bunch of the living room furniture so our workers would have some space for work stuff.

How could I have not prepared my boys for this huge change? We had talked about getting a new kitchen, but I didn't prepare them for the fact that it would take several days or that everything would be moved while the new kitchen was being installed.

So...this morning EZ kind of did a little freak out and then focused on one very visible thing.The microwave in the living room. I told him it was just for a few days until we got our new one. WRONG THING TO SAY!

He doesn't exactly like "new". We moved into our new church house several months ago and he still tells me how he doesn't like the "new church".

He found a little step stool to sit on and told me he was going to sit and watch it. (I think to protect it from being taken away.) You can tell exactly how he feels by the look on his face.When Puppy heard us talking about the new kitchen this is what he said, "But I will miss this kichen." ...I won't.

BAH!

This morning EZ was panicked as he walked through the house calling for Dad.
"I need Dad! Where's Dad?"

I calmly took him aside and explained Daddy was at work.

His reply~
"But I need the I-Phone."

Sorry Dad.

Kids say cute things

I have a couple of cute stories I wanted to share from today.

EZ lost a tooth last night, so of course he had some money under his pillow this morning. He told me as soon as he saw it. "I need to go to the tooth fairy store and buy a new tooth."

Puppy was helping me make dinner tonight. As I cooked I was munching on some carrots and hummus. He had a bite and really tried to convince himself that he enjoyed it. I finally told him that it was okay if he didn't like it. He then told me, "Jesus doesn't buy hummus."

Fun with EZ

I went to school today with EZ. He didn't want me to be there. He kept telling me that Mom needs to go home. But he warmed up to the fact that sometimes worlds collide and even let me have lunch with him. But this was how he looked for a long time.

By the time I left we had enjoyed some time together, but he was VERY happy to have me leave. What a funny kid.

The twins have a party!

So, it's been almost a week. But we had a great birthday party for the twins. EZ and Puppy. Here are some fun pics.

Sage decided to have some cake before the party. I told the boys they could have whatever kind of party they wanted. Puppy informed me (and EZ) that they wanted to have all their friends over from church and have a party in the back yard. Whahoo. That's the best kind of party there is. So, we set up a bunch of water toys and let the kids have at it. They had a ball.Blue Tiger reloading his watergun.Puppy was never without at least a few water toys.We told one of the siblings of one of the kids to come so Star could have someone his own age there. They had a great time. EZ loves being outside and in the water.Spike only lasted through half the party, then he came out all dressed and just watched. I was glad to see I got a pic of him in the water.Look at that face. Sage couldn't get enough!The next day was their actual birthday. Puppy was insistent that he get a car. So, that is what they got. On their b-day morning there was a car waiting for them in the living room. (Thanks to Dad staying up late putting it together.)They couldn't wait to go cruisin'.And here they are...driving off into the sunset....um....yeah.

Elmo candle for EZ. He loves ElmoPuppy candle for who else? Puppy!Here they are blowing out their candles. So fun!Puppy got a puppy that wags it's tail and lifts it's head when you pet it. It is so cute. He calls it 'Wings' because it has long ears. And I couldn't resist this cute cute pic of Sage and my cousins boyfriend. Check out that face! I think we washed it about 10 times. He just LOVED the frosting.

Oh Happy Trampoline

It took forever for the snow to melt, especially in our back yard where the trampoline is. During the shoveling days of the snow each morning EZ got up and begged to go and dig the trampoline. I was too tired from digging out the driveway to worry about the back porch and a pathway to the trampoline. So each day EZ asked if we could dig out the trampoline. And finally the snow melted on it's own. When it was only a few inches in the back, EZ went and kicked most of the snow off of the trampoline, but the temperature outside was still a little too cold to stay out for too long. Well, since the weather has been nice guess who you can find constantly on the trampoline? That's right, once he is dressed in the morning, as soon as he gets home from school and until it's time to come in and get ready for bed, EZ is out on the trampoline.

A rare and wonderful opportunity.

Today I was at one of the schools that my boys attend for a bunch of meetings. As it was, each time there was a recess in the meeting I got to go outside and watch the kids at their recess. And each time I got to watch one of my boys.

It was so interesting and wonderful to be a "fly on the wall" and not have them be aware of me and yet watch them as they played.

I loved watching EZ as he played around other kids, always in the middle of things.

I loved watching Blue Tiger as he paced back and forth, obviously creating stories in his head. It was even better when a friend approached him and they paced and created together, adding animation to the stories. And I loved watching Spike as he went to a secluded spot (that I think is off limits) and walk and think. It was an interesting activity for me to do, one I totally enjoyed!
