Independence Day Block Party

This was our fourth year running for the Independence Day Block Party. By the end of the party the kids wouldn't go on the bouncy house because it was too hot. Each year we have talked about how we have been blessed with nice cool weather. This year we talked about how we had electricity back on  and how we were blessed when the predicted storms today didn't happen.

Many of the people we know are still out of power from the Terrible Thunderstorm of Two Thousand and Twelve. We had no power from Friday Night to Monday morning, but some will not have power the rest of the week. Earlier in the week were cooking with our propane camp stove, and putting the kids mattresses in the basement so they could sleep in the cool. We weren't sure if this party was going to happen. Most of the conversation today was about friends who still have no power (or water for those with well pumps).

Here are the pics!

  1. I don't know what would be worse, no electricity for a week or the entire state on fire. The closest one to us right now is in Alpine. My uncle and aunt have had to evacuate from their home. Also, YW camp had to move locations because the firefighters are using our original location as their base camp for fighting the fires in central Utah. It has been quite the summer already, and it's only July 5. Crazy times!

The party looks like a lot of fun, though. And nice shade with the trees. :)
